2010 VGA JUNIOR COUNTRY REGIONS CHAMPIONSHIPS
CONGRATULATIONS
The Peninsula Junior Team have taken out the VGA Victorian Country Junior Regions Championships which were completed today (Sunday 15th August) at Heathcote Golf Club in Central Victoria. After coming second for the last two years our boys overpowered West Gippsland and their arch rivals Geelong to win this years prestigous event.

COUNTRY WEEK UPDATE
The PDGA is currently getting ready for the 2010 VGA Country Week. The initial squad members (20 players) was selected, but has seen players becoming unavailable due to other commitments, and it is now around 15 members. We will select the final PDGA team of 8 or 9 players in the next few days.

NOTE:
Next important golf events for the squad:

1. The Heathcote Open will be played over the weekend of Saturday 11th September to Sunday 12th September. A select group from the PDGA Country Week Squad have been entered.

2. PDGA/Professional Challenge at The National Golf Club. Local golf professionals take on the final PDGA Country Week Squad in our annual challenge over the MOONAH Course on Sunday 19th September.

COUNTRY WEEK
Country Week this year runs from Monday 27th September until Friday 1st October. The draw has been downloaded from the VGA and is listed on the Country Week pages.

YOUNG LOCAL AUSSIES IN THE UNITED STATES
Two of our top Mornington Peninsula boys are set to take on the United States.

Bryden McPherson (ex Devilbend Golf Club) continues to cement his career in the US whilst James Marchesani from Rosebud Country Club has accepted a scholarship to Oklahoma City University which he will take up in late August.

MASTERS PENNANT NEWS
The 2010 Masters Pennant season has commenced and the LATEST AMENDED DRAW has been uploaded to the website.
(NOTE: amended 26.08.2010 after Carrington Park Golf Club pulled one of their sides from the event this week due to lack of required players. This was also after Portsea Golf Club pulled both teams from the event).

PENINSULA JUNIOR OPEN and DISTRICT JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS

The 2010 PDGA Peninsula Junior Championships and District Junior Championships were played at the picturesque and demanding Dunes Golf Links on Wednesday 7th July.
The field of sixty six from all over Victoria (and South Australia) played excellent golf in this Geoff Ogilvy Trophy event which is gradually gaining popularity with the juniors.

THE MAJOR WINNERS

Luke Bexley - above left (Patterson River) finished with a gross score 75 to take out the Peninsula Junior Open Championship for 2010 - well done. Ian Merrett - above right (Mornington) took out the 2010 PDGA District Junior Championshipwith a fine scratch score of 77.

Braeden Kelly - below left (Glenelg -SA) took out the Peninsula Junior Open Handicap title
with a nett 71 and Liam Mullen - below right (Portsea) was the 2010 District Junior Handicap Winner with nett 71
